Pack Creek Bear Tours provides specialized services and experienced guides for custom tours, yacht charters and the film industry.
Groups of five are welcome to make custom arrangements for food options, flight seeing additions and tour length. For groups under five seeking a custom or private experience, please contact us for pricing.
Have us meet your yacht or charter vessel for a guided excursion into bear country. Guides can accompany your family or group ashore using your vessel’s tender, or we can take you flightseeing and bearviewing.
Our guides can lead you for a half day or full day into bear country, either from your vessel or by floatplane to many destinations along the Inside Passage, or can stay onboard overnight or longer, providing natural history interpretation and multiple trips ashore.
– round-trip floatplane service from Juneau to your vessel, or to other destinations from your vessel, including flightseeing over the Juneau ice field or Tracy Arm/Sawyer glaciers;
– professional wilderness guide with years of experience in bear country, and equipped with a bear protection firearm and canister of bear spray, a first aid kit, and marine radio;
– day use permit from the U.S. Forest Service, for most areas on Admiralty and Chichagof islands.
Fly-in Guided Hikes into Bear Country: $2800, includes flying a guide to any yacht anchored within a 30 minute flight of Juneau (e.g. Pack Creek, Tenakee Inlet, Pavlof Harbor, Tracy Arm entrance); half or full day of guided bear viewing, kayaking, or other natural history activity; permits and insurance. If the weather allows, we recommend adding a spin over the ice field or through the fjords to make the most of your scenic flight. Additional flight seeing by the hour and subsequent half hour. Call for details.
Film and Research Services
We will supply an experienced guide to accompany your film or research crew, providing knowledge and experience with some of the best bear viewing sites in southeast Alaska. Our guides can greatly enhance the safety of your operation through training in bear-human interactions, bear attack prevention, and safety back-up of a fire arm and bear spray.
